In July 2026, seven members of Derbyshire Motorcycle Lodge, accompanied by a regular guest, set off on a six-day touring holiday through the breathtaking landscapes of Southern Ireland. The group consisted of Dave Parsons, Steve Gough, Philip Meynell, Adrian Fletcher, Mike Gant (the Worshipful Master of the lodge), Ranjit Verma, Philip Waldron, and our good friend Tony Slingsby (not a Freemason – yet!). 

From the moment the ferry docked in Ireland, the tour promised adventure, camaraderie, banter, and some of the finest motorcycling roads Europe has to offer. (No potholes) . Over the course of the trip, the group covered more than 1,000 miles, travelling through picturesque towns, winding coastal routes, and dramatic mountain scenery that make Southern Ireland such a sought-after destination for riders.

A major highlight of the journey was riding sections of the world-famous Ring of Kerry, renowned for its sweeping bends, rugged coastline, and stunning panoramic views. The group also experienced parts of the spectacular Wild Atlantic Way, where the Atlantic Ocean crashes against towering cliffs and the road seems to weave effortlessly through some of Ireland’s most beautiful and unspoilt countryside.

The weather was exceptionally kind for most of the tour. Riders enjoyed long stretches of sunshine, occasional cloud cover, and only a small amount of rain — a bonus for any motorcycle trip in Ireland. These conditions allowed the group to make the most of every mile, stopping regularly to admire the scenery, capture photographs, eat, and enjoy the warm hospitality of the local towns they visited.

Beyond the miles travelled and the scenery explored, the true success of the tour lay in the friendship and fellowship shared by everyone involved. Good riding, great company, and countless moments of laughter combined to create an experience that will be remembered fondly for many years to come.
